Wired editor-in-chief Chris Anderson’s 2006 book “The Long Tail: Why the Future of Business Is Selling Less of More” posits a radical shift in the mass market. He says we are moving away from a market dominated hits to a market where niches will play a larger role. (more…)

Several things stood out to me from the discussion and presentation. One was the positive role for the government appears to play in Europe and Asia in regulating the internet infrastructure to ensure an even playing field, pushing competition to the next with ISPs and other service providers. It appears that government intervention is one key reason the consumer benefits from internet services that are faster and cheaper than in the U.S. What if we tried that here? (more…)
